Who Will Be the Next Volunteer and Professional of the Year Award Winners? — 2/20/14

Every year since 1992, the West Virginia Credit Union League has honored one outstanding volunteer and one outstanding paid staff person who best exemplify the credit union spirit. Nominated by their peers, and often surprised by the announcement, these individuals are presented their awards during the business session of the League Annual Meeting.

“It is great to see the surprised look on the recipients face when their names are announced during our League Annual Meeting business session,” said League President Ken Watts who annually presents the award.

The Hawkins Award recognizes a credit union volunteer who demonstrates the energy and initiative by the West Virginia credit union movement’s first volunteer and founder, William Bryan Hawkins.The Pacesetter award seeks to become a symbol of credit union excellence among paid staff persons currently employed within the West Virginia credit union system.

This year’s awards presentation will take place at the 78th League Annual Meeting on May 3, 2014, at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown.To make a nomination for either, or both, of the awards, you can complete the attached nomination forms.Nominations should be postmarked, faxed, or emailed no later than April 14, 2014 and should include a contact name. (An independent judging panel will select the recipient for both awards.)In order to obtain full and accurate information when completing the nomination form, we suggest that you consult the nominee to confirm the personal data.

“We are fortunate to have a large number of outstanding volunteers and staff in West Virginia noted Watts.“If you know of a volunteer or staff person within the state who has worked tirelessly on behalf of the credit union movement, we encourage you to consider that individual for nomination,” he emphasized.
