Updated Booklet Explains Share Insurance Coverage to Consumers — 2/4/14
The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has released the latest version of the Your Insured Funds booklet, providing consumers and credit unions with the latest share insurance coverage information in a new, easy-to-read format.
“It’s important that credit union members understand what their federal insurance coverage is for the various types of accounts offered at our nation’s credit unions,” NCUA Consumer Protection Director Gail Laster said. “Using the information in this updated booklet, consumers will be able to make better decisions about their money and learn more about how their checking, share, trust and retirement accounts are insured.”
Printed copies of the booklet are available by completing the order form available here or by calling (703) 518-6340. Downloadable print-ready copies of the booklet, as well as other share insurance resources, including the How Your Accounts are Federally Insured brochure and the NCUA Share Insurance Estimator, are available at mycreditunion.gov/Estimator or ncua.gov.
Backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government, the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) insures member accounts up to $250,000. No member of a federally insured credit union has ever lost a penny of shares insured by NCUA.
In West Virginia, both federal and state chartered credit union funds are insured by the NCUSIF.
