Free Online Conference Delivers Insights on Planning Strategically in a Changing World

Mutual Group announced today registration is open for its eighth annual,
day-long Discovery
Conference on Aug. 17. The conference brings together leading disruption
experts and credit union leaders to help credit unions prepare for upcoming
2018 strategic planning sessions in a rapidly changing industry. The virtual,
no-cost event is geared toward credit union CEOs and senior leadership teams.
“Our industry is experiencing rapid change in technology, competition,
regulation, and consumer demands,” said Robert N. Trunzo, president and CEO,
CUNA Mutual Group, in a video
address (1:11 min.). “This year's Discovery Conference will offer ideas and
insights to form your credit union’s strategy. We'll cover key issues and
trends such as real-time payments, data and analytics, and investing in
Fintech, so you’ll leave Discovery feeling prepared to lead upcoming strategic
planning sessions with your leadership team,” Trunzo added.
Peter Sheahan, founder and CEO, Karrikins Group, and Julie Williamson, Ph.D.,
vice president, strategy and research, Karrikins Group, open and close the
conference with keynote sessions addressing strategic planning in an evolving
financial services industry as well as accelerating organizational
transformation to drive alignment and execution of strategic plans to ensure
relevance well into the future.
The sessions, “Beyond Business as Usual: Rethinking Strategy in a Changing
Industry” and “Accelerated Growth: Building Organizations through Innovation,
Courageous Leadership, and Alignment,” provide actionable steps credit unions
can take to start or advance their strategic plans to capture more business

Eight breakout sessions will take place between the opening and closing keynote
addresses covering topics, including data and analytics, lending to
millennials, and real-time payments. Attendees will explore pathways to improve
credit union members’ financial health, learn how to become digital and
effectively utilize mobile channels to reach more members, glean insights from
CUNA’s 2018 environmental scan, and discover how the economy will affect 2018
strategic plans.
Throughout the day, attendees have opportunities to network with industry
leaders, pose questions, participate in “hot topic” chats, and visit
