Time to Nominate Your Deserving Volunteer and Staff Person — 2/14/17

Nominations Due by April 3

For 27 years, the West Virginia Credit Union League has honored an outstanding volunteer and paid staff person who best exemplify the credit union spirit during the League Annual Meeting business session. The 2017 call for nominees is nearing the deadline set for April 3.

“Over the years, we have been fortunate to have a number of worthy credit union volunteers and staff be recognized at the League Annual Meeting,” noted League President Ken Watts. “If you know of a volunteer or staff person within the state who has worked tirelessly on behalf of the credit union movement, we encourage you to consider that individual for nomination,” he stated.

The Hawkins Award recognizes a credit union volunteer who demonstrates the energy and initiative by the West Virginia credit union movement’s first volunteer and founder, William Bryan Hawkins. The Pacesetter award seeks to become a symbol of credit union excellence among paid staff persons currently employed (at the time of nomination) among one of the League’s member credit unions.

Receiving the 2016 William Bryan Hawkins Award was Cecil Elder, Willow Island FCU, while Tina Sheppard, Eastern Panhandle FCU was named the 2016 Pacesetter Award recipient.

This year’s awards presentation will take place at the 81st League Annual Meeting on April 22, 2017, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston. To make a nomination for either, or both of the awards, you can complete nomination form mailed out to credit unions, or download it from the League’s web site. Nominations should be postmarked, faxed, or emailed no later than April 3, 2017 and should include a contact name. (An independent judging panel will select the recipient for both awards.)

In order to obtain full and accurate information when completing the nomination form, the League suggests that you consult the nominee to confirm the personal data.
