League Mourns Passing of Eugene Stump — 11/4/16

The credit union community in West Virginia is mourning the passing of one of its long time volunteers, Eugene Stump. Stump passed away early this morning after a brief illness.

Mr. Stump served on the League Board representing the Parkersburg Chapter for 30 years and served as Chairman of the League several times. He also was a charter member of WV Central Credit Union and continuously served on that board for 48 years until his passing. He was a charter member of the WV League Services Corporation and WV Corporate Credit Union. He was also Treasurer/Manager of Blennerhassett FCU for many years which served employees of Johns Manville in Vienna.

As a World War II veteran, Gene was also active in the AFL-CIO, the local Democratic Executive Committee, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Gene was truly a pioneer of the credit union movement in West Virginia,” stated League President Ken Watts. “We extend our deepest sympathies to Gene’s wife, Cathy, and their family during this difficult time.”

Funeral visitation will be from 2 - 8 pm on Sunday, November 6 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna, WV and the service will be at 11 am on Monday, November 7 at the funeral home.
